IPL Cheerleaders & Cricket

This is a tribute to all the Indian premier league cheerleaders who dance untiringly at every exciting moment of the match. Donning their team colours they could be seen around the perimeter of the playfield repeating few steps with great monotony, which except for those who could be seen outside “c” grade cinema halls, would love to oversee. Of course then there is our friendly camera man exploring these dancers from all possible angles making it look more like another raunchy “Rakhi Sawant ” video.
Most of the teams have gone about hiring ‘phoren’ cheerleaders to add a little more to ever pervasive craze for “gori chamdi “ which could by best testified by the launch of new fairness creams every day. Women and cricket has always shared a little in common till recent years when Set Max introduced Mandira Bedi on its panel of hosts. Within no time noodle straps bowled over cricket and declared the arrival of women in cricket (other than on playfield)
We, Indians have a great ability of over doing things but without concerning much about quality and purpose of doing it. We have had great women cricketers like Mithali Raj who has made place for herself in this so called gentleman’s game through sheer hard work and talent.
Cricket may be considered a religion by a lot of us and a money machine by those in the business but the fact remains that it is a game. Every sport like every religion demands a certain sanctity which should be upheld. A dish would only taste good only if the right ingredients have been put but also most importantly in the right quantity. Equilibrium is not a theory of economics or science but a secret to life.
As far as the cheerleaders are concerned I feel they could be done away with or at the best have them perform during the ten min break. Every person wishes to be noticed and be appreciated for their talent.
