NATIONS..
When I walked into the hussainiwala gate complex I felt like a true Indian, present there to witness the “ lowering of flags” ceremony. Notwithstanding the standard of drill which I must say was excellent I couldn’t help staring at the beautiful gate Pakistan has built on the it’s side. But it wasn’t too long before this thought turned into a smile. When the crowd started flowing in, filling the stands I could see shabbily dressed men. They reflected the state in which Pakistan is in today, a state struggling to identify itself as a modern Islamic nation, desperate to hide its internal mess.
But what seemed to me as a good sign were these smartly dressed uniform clad lady rangers standing along with their male counterparts. My stereotype opinion of Pakistan, which I ignorantly have carried along all life long changed immediately. I started thinking like a citizen of the world and wished that this country should rise above the uncertainty, financial crunch and above all religious fundamentalism.
I felt sad for this nation for have being lead by some wrong leaders at very crucial moments. I also realized that a nation is not what we read in newspapers, what their leaders claim to be but what every single citizen believe they are!
There are no good or bad nations, only bad leaders.
